Cheers in Da Lat: Trendy bars and cozy spots to try
Posted on January 16, 2025
On this blog, I share a collection of honest reviews—free from embellishment or distraction. From heritage hotels to local cafés, every entry is filtered through my own lens and personal aesthetic. These are not universal guides, but a reflection of my individual taste and first-hand experiences. My goal is to help you make more considered choices by sharing a perspective that values substance and values the reality of the moment.

Project
Da Lat’s lifestyle carries a relaxed, almost dreamlike rhythm, and its nightlife mirrors that same gentle character. Though the city has grown increasingly popular with travelers in recent years, it has not adopted the frenetic bar culture found in places like Saigon or Hanoi. Most bars here close around midnight, even on weekends, shaping evenings that feel mellow and intimate rather than loud or chaotic. In truth, this early closing time suits Da Lat perfectly: the cool mountain air, the drifting mist, and the city’s romantic atmosphere invite people to gather for a drink, share stories with friends or lovers, and let the night wind down softly over the hills.
Nowadays, many bars also offer mocktails and drinks without alcohol, making it possible for anyone to enjoy a night out. Even with just a soft drink in hand, visiting a bar remains a pleasant way to relax, and end the day or the week on a calm, social note.
For those who are not ready to call it a night, Da Lat does offer a handful of late-night spots that keep the energy alive past midnight. These venues draw a friendly mix of locals and travelers, blending good music, well-crafted drinks, and a laid-back after-hours vibe. My reviews showcase a mix of my favorite bars and some of the city’s most popular spots—including the few that stay open late—helping night lovers find the right place to enjoy a drink whether they head out early or stay until the last song fades.
Ready to see where the night can take you? Here is a quick roundup of the bars featured in this article, each offering its own reason to stay for “just one more.”

Le Retour Da Lat – Wine Bar

Surrounded by lush green plants, the exterior of Chef’s Dalat Restaurant immediately gives off a cozy, peaceful vibe that makes you feel welcomed before you even step inside. Once you enter, the elegant tables and carefully curated décor continue the experience, showing that attention to detail goes beyond just the food. The whole aesthetic perfectly sets the tone for a refined yet inviting fine dining experience.
There is a storyteller’s touch in every dish from Chef Kha, reflecting his unique style of combining creativity with precision. His approach blends local ingredients with international techniques, crafting plates that are both visually stunning and full of nuanced flavors. Each dish carries a signature touch: thoughtful layering of textures, careful seasoning, and playful presentation that makes it feel like a work of art. Dining here is more than just a meal; it’s an experience that feels personal and intimate, as if the chef is sharing a piece of his vision and personality with every guest. Every bite tells a story.
Another standout is their commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients. They grow their own organic garden, so every herb and vegetable on the plate is bursting with flavor. Each season, Chef Kha creates a new menu, so every visit brings something fresh and exciting to discover. On their website, you can see beautiful pictures of each dish, and they even recommend a wine pairing for the main course to help guide your experience. Combined with the elegant presentation, the cozy greenery outside, and warm service, it is an experience that keeps me coming back, eager to see—and taste—what story Chef Kha will tell next.

4:20 Sunset Cocktail Bar Da Lat

The warm, inviting atmosphere set the tone from the moment I walked in, though the décor itself was fairly simple and unremarkable. Still, it was the balcony overlooking the lake that added a whole new layer to the evening. The water shimmered under the city lights, and the cool Da Lat air wrapped around everything like a soft, gentle blanket. Inside, each beautifully prepared dish felt thoughtful and refined, and outside, that serene lakeside view just steps away brought the perfect balance of comfort and quiet wonder.
Italian and French cuisine are two of my top five favorites, so I came in with high expectations and every dish delivered. Warm, flavorful, and beautifully plated, each bite felt like a little moment of joy. I always love when they add flowers to the dishes. It is nothing fancy, but it adds a cheerful pop of color. Combined with the balcony view of the lake, and the soft lighting, the evening was simple, but unforgettable.
The restaurant offers two set menus—“Love at First Sight” and “Moon” as well as an à la carte option if you like to pick and choose. This time, I decided to go with the Moon menu (priced at 1,990,000 VND / 2 pax), it felt like the perfect fit for my taste. For wine lovers, there is only a single glass available à la carte: Oro Di Vigne, a Merlot Sangiovese from Italy and if you prefer, other wines are also available by the bottle, giving plenty of options to pair with your meal.

Le Cosy Bar
@ Da Lat Palace Heritage Hotel

I first stumbled upon Rừng Thông Mơ Farm & Bistro while staying at Mơ Stay – Forest Resort, and I have already featured it in my“Top 3 Best Hotels for a Beautiful and Unique Stay in Da Lat” article. But it deserves another mention, because this bistro has a personality all its own. Perched on a gentle hillside just outside the city, framed by towering pine trees and soft mist drifting through the forest, the bistro feels like it stepped straight out of a movie. Infused with the tranquil energy of the resort, it combines fresh, farm-to-table ingredients with full flavor and care, making every bite feel like a little moment to savor. It is more than just a hotel restaurant—it is a destination.
They offer separate menus for lunch and dinner, each with its own charm. The dinner menu is broader and a bit more indulgent, which I have highlighted in my article “Top 3 Best Hotels for a Beautiful and Unique Stay in Da Lat.” The lunch menu feels lighter and more relaxed, perfect for slow afternoons surrounded by pine-scented air. Here are a few photos from the lunch menu, along with some dishes I genuinely think are worth trying.
If you are unsure where to start, go for the “Recommended by Mơ’s Head Chef” menu, it is a wonderful introduction to the bistro’s style and flavors. Pair it with a glass of wine or a refreshing ginger spice kombucha to complete the experience. And if you love ending a meal with something sweet, the chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream is a little treat I can never resist. It is warm, rich, comforting and actually one of my favorite desserts ever, anywhere.

Blue Rose – Cocktails & Spirits

Walking into Moto Laurie Café & Bistro feels a bit like stepping into a place you could happily spend the whole day. They truly have everything, from hearty breakfasts to comforting lunches and dinners, with cakes and cookies waiting whenever the craving hits. It is always lively, people coming and going, yet somehow it still feels warm and familiar, like a home you return to often. I guess that warmth comes from the people behind it—Laurie, originally from South Australia, and his wife, Khanh. You can feel their kindness and energy in the way the café runs, as if they’ve quietly built a place where everyone feels welcome.
What makes it even more special is that Moto Laurie is not just about food. They share travel tips, lifestyle notes, and their love for motorbikes, giving the café a personality that goes beyond its menu. It feels like a space where ideas float around as easily as the smell of fresh coffee, inviting you to stay a while. Whether you’re sipping a latte while reading, sharing a dessert with someone you love, or trying one of their surprisingly creative dishes, there’s a spark of curiosity in everything here.
Whenever I am in the mood for comfort food, I know exactly where I am going. Their eggs Benedict and smoked salmon bagel never disappoint. And to stay somewhat healthy, I always grab their green juice with guava, apple, orange, and kale. It’s the perfect “I am trying my best” kind of balance. And even though I usually stick to my favorites, they also have a very nice vegetarian and vegan menu and if you are curious to try something plant-based, I definitely recommend their veggie burgers.

Lê Jeu Gastrobar

For travelers eager to taste authentic cuisine, Mộc Vị captures the essence of Northern Vietnam. The dishes are humble yet full-bodied, and each bite feels like sharing a meal at a family table, where warmth and heritage are always present. Made even more special with ingredients sourced directly from their own garden, every dish carries the familiar comfort of homemade food shared around a family table. If you are feeling adventurous, you can challenge yourself and try a dish with shrimp paste, a bold and unmistakably Vietnamese flavor.
In Vietnam, meals are meant to be shared. Dishes are placed in the center of the table, inviting everyone to help themselves rather than having a plate just for one. Even if you are only two people, it is best to order a few dishes to experience the full variety. This tradition encourages conversation, laughter, and a sense of togetherness, turning every meal into a shared celebration of food, family, and community.
You can choose to dine indoors, where it feels warm and homey, or outdoors on weekends from 6 PM, where the open barbecue, crackling fire, and live music create a lively, cozy atmosphere. Both spaces have their charm, offering two distinct moods in one place. So, which vibe will you choose for your evening?

The Balcony Cocktail Bar Da Lat

Guru Chay offers a peaceful escape with its beautiful garden and fountain, making it a comfortable spot for brunch. The restaurant reimagines vegetarian dining as a modern, appealing experience with a large, diverse menu. Even for a carnivore like me, the dishes are anything but boring. Each plate looks like it could come straight from an Instagram post: bright, colorful, and thoughtfully arranged.
The name “Guru Vegetarian” combines wisdom and wellness. “Guru,” from Sanskrit, means a guide or mentor who inspires others toward a better life. “Vegetarian” reflects the purity and mindfulness of plant-based cuisine, nourishing both body and soul. Together, the name expresses the restaurant’s vision: to encourage a healthy lifestyle, create calm and balance in every meal, and let diners experience vegetarian food in the most mindful and satisfying way.
Pair your meal with a kombucha tea or a lemon juice with salt and green pepper, and it is easy to see why even a skeptical carnivore can become a veggie enthusiast. Whether meeting friends, enjoying a solo coffee, or simply seeking a calm brunch, Guru Chay combines style and flavor, making vegetarian dining trendy and enjoyable.

7.
Gemination Eatery & Bar

D’Lart Garden has the charm of a little cottage—warm décor, a lovely garden, and even a small workshop that gives the place an artisanal touch. One of the things I love most about coming here is the rooftop, right in the heart of Da Lat. It is a peaceful spot with a beautiful view, perfect whether you are settling in for a meal or simply stopping by for a cup of coffee. And whether you swing by in the afternoon or late in the evening, you will get a completely different vibe, both worth experiencing.
They offer a really nice set menu that I find quite affordable, and if you are a group of three or four, you can choose from all the available sets. The only downside is that they don not serve wine by the glass except for Menu 1, which conveniently includes two glasses. If you are going à la carte, I also recommend trying the garden kale noodles with creamy mushroom sauce, the green rice with lemon basil salt, the pan-seared duck breast with black pepper sauce, or the spring rolls with seasonal herbs.
They are also very vegetarian-friendly, with a dedicated vegetarian menu.

On The Rocks Cocktail Bar

Sometimes you just want to go out, but not for anything fancy, just a place that feels easy to be in, with delicious food and a relaxed soundtrack in the background. The first time I visited Da Lat, I was wandering the streets with a few friends, with no plan or destination in mind. We turned a corner, and there it was: a cozy little restaurant that caught our attention. It felt so inviting that we stayed longer than expected, and by the next night, we found ourselves back again, drawn in by the same charm.
The staff were genuinely lovely, greeting us like old friends and making the experience even more memorable. Their beer selection is fantastic, especially if you enjoy Belgian brews like I do. Between the flavors on the plate, the live music, and the easygoing atmosphere, this spot quickly became one of my favorite memories in Da Lat.
Some dishes and drinks at Drinkery are a little pricey, but sitting there with a Belgian beer in hand, savoring every bite and letting the music carry the evening, it never felt like a cost—it felt like a moment. Moments like these are why this place quickly became a part of my Da Lat story.

9.
Da Lat Beer Corner

Túi Mơ To Garden is the kind of place that draws both locals and travelers, and it is easy to see why. There is something special about gathering around a barbecue with friends or family while breathing in the crisp mountain air and soaking up the scenery. Outdoor seating is arranged to make the most of the scenery, letting you dine with the hills as your backdrop. As evening falls, the valley lights below twinkle like tiny stars, creating a magical setting for a leisurely meal.
If the weather is cooler or you prefer a cozier atmosphere, the indoor space is just as appealing. Rustic wooden tables, warm lighting, and a few heaters make it an inviting spot for chilly nights, while the décor keeps the space charming and relaxed. Whether you are inside or out, the atmosphere is casual and welcoming, perfect for a long, unhurried dinner with good company.
The menu is a playground for grill lovers, with everything from smoky forest meats to irresistible seafood. And to round out the meal, don’t miss their Apricot Wine, a smooth, lightly sweet specialty from Sapa that pairs perfectly with anything off the grill.

100 Roof Bar – Maze Bar

You place your order right at the entrance, and only then does the adventure begin. Drink in hand, you step inside and that is where things get interesting. If you are on the shorter side, you will slip through without much trouble, but taller guests may find themselves ducking and bending. The space is unforgiving, quickly revealing that this bar is less about comfort and more about the novelty of the journey.
Inside, you weave through a maze of tiny rooms, moving from one snug corner to the next while balancing your glass. It is designed to be experienced with friends, turning the night into a playful exploration rather than a traditional bar outing. Still, anyone with claustrophobia should think twice because the rooms are cramped, the ceilings low, and the dim lighting can feel oppressive if tight spaces are not your thing.
At the very top, you will find a modest rooftop, though it is nothing remarkable. What truly defines this place is the experience itself, not the drinks. Families even bring children along, which says a lot about the atmosphere. In the end, it feels more like a quirky attraction or a one-time adventure than a destination for refined cocktails or a laid-back evening.
